Organic El Salvador Organic Fair Trade
The San Mauricio region located in the mountainous Eastern region of El Salvador is dominated by agriculture. The elevation and topography create perfect conditions for coffee cultivation which is the principal production of the large landholders, cooperatives and small producers. The area where the coffee is grown is dedicated to chemical free cultivation, with crops such as corn, beans, vegetables and citrus fruits appearing next to the coffee plants. The coffee is grown under a rich canopy of shade trees, making the farms sanctuary to many neotropical migratory birds and other endangered local species. The coffee is certified organic shade grown by the Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA) as well as being a fair trade coffee. It is of the Altura variety and is grown at 1200 meters. In the cup, the coffee is clean, medium body, slight acidity, and a mild fragrant aroma.
